Reelblack is an independent film production and promotion company. We started this group as an extension of our monthly film events and first weekend field trips. Join us if you'd like to meetup to enjoy quality African-American Film, Good Food and Thoughtful Discussion.

Once a month, we gather together in a space in West Philly that can fit up to 50 people to watch a movie and talk about it. We generally focus on recent dvd releases of foreign, independent, and documentary films. After watching the film together, we have a discussion which usually lasts about 50 minutes. It's been great to meet people from so many different backgrounds and see the value that diversity adds to our group and discussions. Javaflix is a free event.

We will meet regularly to discuss the films of Stanley Kubrick. In general, we will screen the film-to-be-discussed individually before the Meetups; the organizer will come prepared with notes and handouts, and the attendees with their questions and observations. When Kubrick films or events are happening, we will try to go see them! A more ambitious goal for our group will to try to become a useful resource for Kubrick fans everywhere!

As independent filmmakers, we know how hard it is to find a platform to screen our movies. This group will be a platform for indie filmmakers to screen their movies.
